Meet Your Lifestyle Medicine Coach
LaTaya De Jesus
DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, FNP-C, DipACLM
LaTaya seeks to serve the Lord Most High by answering His call to serve others. He has led her throughout her healthcare journey and LaTaya credits Him for all that she has accomplished.
Seeking to follow Jesus Christ and His will for her life, LaTaya began her healthcare journey as a combat medic in the United States Army. She graduated with her Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) from Florida International University in Miami, Florida. She began working in emergency medicine shortly thereafter due to her background in trauma care obtained while in the military. LaTaya cared greatly for her patients in the emergency department. She would follow up with them after they were discharged or visit them if they were admitted to find out how they were doing. She thought it would be best to return to school to obtain her Master of Science (MS) in nursing so she could continue to follow her patients as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP). LaTaya attended Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, where she completed her MS and obtained her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree as a clinical expert. She has worked in primary care since completing her studies.
LaTaya has a passion for helping people live their best lives. She has helped her patients successfully reverse their chronic diseases including type 2 diabetes, fatty liver disease, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol, and achieve a healthy weight through the lifestyle medicine approach.
LaTaya is triple board certified. She is certified in family practice through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (FNP-BC), the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (FNP-C), and in Lifestyle Medicine as a diplomate through the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine (DipACLM).
In her free time, LaTaya enjoys studying the Bible, spending time with her husband, children, and family dog, writing, reading, sewing, playing board games, learning to play the piano, exercising, and gardening.
It is important to note that in her role as a Lifestyle Medicine coach, LaTaya is functioning as a registered nurse (RN) and does not diagnose or prescribe medications or supplements.
